What is Tre’dish and how does it work?

Tre’dish is a virtual marketplace that connects home chefs with hungry customers in their community. Our mission is to help you elevate your brand and grow your customer base within your local community – enabling you to build your business by cooking from your own kitchen.

Is this service available where I live?

We have launched our closed beta in Riverside County, California, and have begun collecting applications for chefs to join our platform.

If you are outside of this area, please do not hesitate to fill-out an application here and you can be one of the first chefs to launch in your community. You can also subscribe to our email newsletter to stay updated on our launches.

What are the regulations?

The State of California passed The Homemade Act, AB 626, in 2018 and was written into law on January 1, 2019, establishing the creation of Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKOs).

Being a MEHKO allows you to cook and sell meals from the comfort of your home kitchen.

For more information from the California Department of Public Health, please click here.

Do you offer insurance?

We do not offer insurance and highly recommend that as a MEHKO operator you obtain your own insurance.

What are the requirements to cook for Tre’dish?

Per state regulations, each chef must register with the county authorities as a Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MEHKO).

Tre’dish can support you through this process! Submit an application here.

How can I join?

Submit an application here so that we can get to know each other. A member of our team will reach out to help you get started.

Do I have to work full time to join Tre’dish?

No, be your own boss and decide which days you want to cook.

Flexible work hours and no commute make this a perfect opportunity for experienced chefs who always dreamed of working from their own kitchen. It’s also a great opportunity for parents, students, young entrepreneurs and anyone who loves to cook.

Do customers order ahead of time, or do they order the food on the same day?

Your customers are asked to place their orders at least 36 hours prior to pick up or delivery.

This allows you to purchase ingredients for only the amount required, thus reducing cost and waste, and you can organize tasks to increase profitability and return on your efforts.

What is the cancellation policy?

36 hours prior to receiving their food, the customers can cancel and receive a partial or full refund. After 36 hours, the purchase is non-refundable.

What are the Tre’dish fees?

We take a 10% commission on all food and delivery sales, plus a 2.5% payment processing fee.  We also charge our diners 5% for the service.

These charges cover services such as marketing efforts to grow your business, credit card processing fees, support for our chefs and customers, and the operational expenses of running our platform.

Can I make tips from this service?

Absolutely! You (the Chef) keep 100% of all tips earned.

What steps are in place regarding food safety?

All Chefs on our platform are registered as MEHKOs with the local county health department, and their cooking facilities are inspected annually.

The owner must have a Food Managers Safety Certification, and all people involved must have a Food Handler Certification as well.

Tre’dish’s platform provides access to an optimal check-in/check-out process that follows professional standards for food handling, preparation and processing. You can learn more about our Health & Safety measures here.

How do the customers get their food?

Customers will have two ways to get their food:

Contactless Pickup:
Each customer will order food to be picked up at a specific time, and you will be alerted to bring the food.

Contactless Delivery:
You may decide to deliver the food to your customers, and you can set the distance and your rate for that service.
